If you have to choose just one Cathar Castle to visit during your stay in Bram, we recommend Lastours. Three quarters of the existing castle visible today was constructed at the time of the Cathars. It is not too difficult a climb, although in the middle of summer we recommend a morning visit as it is cooler. The walk up takes about an hour, give yourself an hour or so to explore and an hour walk down. Bring plenty of water.
